Privacy
jan-meissner.com is a static, content-only personal site. By default no cookies are set and no analytics data is collected. Google Analytics 4 is only loaded with IP anonymisation if you actively opt in via the cookie banner.
What this site does not do
- No cookies without your explicit consent (except a technically required consent-storage cookie)
- No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting
- No advertising or remarketing cookies
- No contact forms — communication happens via plain email
- No newsletter signup, no marketing automation
- No social-media plug-ins
What the hosting provider sees
The site is hosted on a Plesk-managed server. The web server records standard HTTP access logs (IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp, referrer) for the technical operation of the site and for security purposes. These logs are retained for the period set by the hosting provider's default policy (typically 7–14 days) and are not shared.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in technical operation and security of the site).
Cookies and consent (cookie banner)
On your first visit a cookie banner is shown (software: vanilla-cookieconsent, open source, self-served). The banner lets you decide whether optional analytics cookies may be set. Your choice is stored in a strictly necessary cookie (cc_cookie) for 6 months so the banner does not re-appear on every visit.
Legal basis: for optional cookies and loading Google Analytics: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG (consent). For storing the consent decision itself: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (strictly necessary).
Withdrawal: you can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future — the "cookies" link in the page footer re-opens the settings.
Google Analytics 4 (only with your consent)
If — and only if — you opt in via the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 is loaded. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Data transfer to Google LLC in the United States cannot be excluded; Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR in conjunction with the EU Commission's adequacy decision of 10 July 2023).
Data collected: truncated IP address, approximate geographic region, device and browser information, visited pages, time on page, referrer, a pseudonymous client ID in the cookies _ga and _ga_<ID>.
Purpose: reach measurement and statistical analysis of site usage in order to improve content.
Safeguards:
- Google Consent Mode v2: before consent,
analytics_storageis set to denied — Google processes no personal data and no analytics cookies are set. - IP anonymisation (
anonymize_ip: true) — the last octets of the IP are truncated before storage. - No linking with advertising services (Google Signals disabled, no remarketing audiences).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG (consent).
Retention: user and event data is retained in the Google Analytics property for a maximum of 14 months. The _ga/_ga_<ID> cookies have a lifetime of up to 24 months and are deleted when consent is withdrawn.
More information: Google Privacy Policy · data retention in GA4.
Fonts
The site loads two web fonts (JetBrains Mono and Fraunces) from Google Fonts (provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google may receive your IP address when fonts are loaded.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in consistent presentation of content). If this is a concern, the fonts can be self-hosted on request.
External links
The site links to external sites (LinkedIn, frontrowgroup.com, groundingpage.com, Office Alpha). The privacy policies of those sites apply when you follow such a link.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to information (Art. 15), correction (Art. 16), deletion (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), to object (Art. 21), and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77). Unless you have given consent to Google Analytics, this site does not actively collect personal data, so there is normally nothing to access or delete. For server-log or analytics-data requests, contact the address in the imprint. You can withdraw a given consent at any time via the "cookies" link in the footer.
